Pool Inspections in Brampton: What to Expect

When buying a house it is common to book a home inspection to gain insight into the overall condition of a property. The average home inspector will be able to offer up details on roofing, foundations and structural condition but they aren’t all familiar with swimming pools. If you are considering buying a home with a pool, spa or hot tub it is important to make sure that structures and water systems are working. Puddle pool inspections don’t stop at the surface level but dig deep into systems with our Brampton pool inspection services.

For sellers, buyers and real estate agents, swimming pool inspections are a great way of gaining insight into what condition the swimming pool is in. No one wants to finalize a sale only to find out that swim spaces are in need of costly repairs or replacements. Instead of getting stuck with an unexpected surprise have a Puddle Pro give you a clean bill of health or point out items in need of repair.

Why Have An Expert Inspect Your Pool?

There are many different types of pool inspections on the market, some of which focus on permitting for construction projects while others are used for insurance purposes. Each of these serve a purpose but they can overlook the most pressing question when dealing with a swimming pool: does it work?

A Level I Pool Inspection focuses on functionality and condition. This type of inspection involves a three part process including visual inspections of pool surfaces and liners, testing of internal water systems and equipment and identifying any safety issues within the swim space and surrounding areas.

Inspections provide home owners with valuable information about the condition of their swim spaces with the goal of pointing out problem areas before they become disasters. At the same time they can provide peace of mind to realtors and potential buyers that they are not investing in a damaged water system.

In the event that our highly trained and experienced pool inspections are able to spot existing problems or prospective ones, we are able to provide references to quality professionals for repairs in your area. It is important to note that Level I Pool Inspections are designed to provide peace of mind and do not come along with a written report.

Brampton Pool Inspections: Frequently Asked Questions

What are the pool fence rules in Brampton?

Brampton's Pool Enclosure By-law 202-2011 applies to any outdoor private body of water that can exceed 0.6 m deep, including hot tubs, landscaped ponds and wading pools. It requires an enclosure permit before installing a pool. Enclosures must be 1.2 m to 2 m high, stop a 10 cm sphere passing through or under and sit at least 1.2 m from the pool unless raised to 1.8 m. Water may not go in until the enclosure is inspected and approved, so confirm details with the City.

Do hot tubs and above ground pools need a fence in Brampton?

Under By-law 202-2011, a hot tub needs no permit or enclosure if it has a locked cover able to hold 90.72 kg (200 lbs). An above ground pool can skip the full fence standard if its walls plus any guard are 1.5 m to 2 m high and not climbable, it sits at least 1.2 m from any lot line and the ladder access is enclosed with a compliant gate. Check with the City that your setup qualifies.

What should salt water pool owners in Brampton check before draining?

Brampton's Discharge of Sewage By-law 90-75 sets a chloride limit of 1500 mg/L for storm sewers, so salt water pools should check chloride against that limit before draining to the curb. The Region of Peel also bars storm discharges with pH below 6.0 or above 9.0. Confirm with the City before draining a salt water pool.

Is an inspection useful if I am selling my home?

It can be. Knowing the condition of the pool before listing lets you repair issues on your own terms, and a clean inspection gives buyers confidence in a feature that otherwise makes some of them nervous.

What happens if the inspection finds a problem?

We explain what we found and what it means, in plain terms. Where repairs are needed, we can quote them so you know the scale of the issue before you make decisions.
