The Southern Nevada amendments to the 2024 International Swimming Pool and Spa Code (Section 321.1) require backwash and draining water to go to the sanitary sewer, an approved on site disposal system or another approved method, discharging through an air gap. The Southern Nevada Water Authority lists failure to discharge pool or spa drainage into a public sanitary sewer, if available, as water waste. Confirm the approved method for your property with the City before draining.
Do pools in Las Vegas need closing for winter?
NOAA 1991 to 2020 normals show average highs of only 57 to 63F in December through February. There are about 10 nights a year at or below 32F, mostly in December and January. Winter use generally depends on heating, so owners who stop swimming can have the pool closed for winter. Hot tubs kept running need checks on the coldest nights.
What is a plumbing blow out?
It uses high volume air to clear water out of the underground lines, so there is nothing left in them to freeze and crack the pipes over winter.
Do you use antifreeze in the lines?
Yes, where it is needed. After the blow out, winter plugs go in and non toxic antifreeze is added to critical lines as extra protection against freezing.
How do I know the pool was closed properly?

Puddle Pools did a great job cleaning my pool. As a first time pool owner, I was struggling to keep the algae away and my pool had gotten pretty out of control. They drained, deep cleaned the stains, and now do weekly cleanings. All for a great price. They’re also always great about communication and are super friendly. It’s nice knowing my pool is taken care of by people I can trust!

Puddle pools is the absolute best pool service I’ve ever had. I’ve had trouble with my pool chemistry for years because I’m surrounded by mature trees. I’ve cycled through 3 different companies and done it myself over the last 7 years, all with little luck. Since signing up with Puddle in May my pool has been absolutely immaculate. The weekly emailed service reports and pictures are so helpful. I’ve been out of town on and off all summer and I can’t tell you how amazing it is to come home to a sparkling pool. Previously, we always maintained our own pool. However, when we returned from a two week vacation, the pool was full of algae and we needed professional assistance. Puddle Pools was highly recommended to us. We couldn't be happier with the experience. From the start, they were incredibly friendly and professional. We spoke to Matt Heinz (owner) and he initially scheduled us for Monday, but reached out and offered to have his Tech, Drew, come two days earlier, which we really appreciated. Drew was fantastic-- extremely knowledgeable, courteous, and thorough. He came out on his day off! He immediately got to work restoring the pool and balancing the chemicals. It looks so much better already. He returned today (2 days later) to followup with the cleaning and chemicals. We have hired them on a weekly basis to maintain our pool. We're very impressed with the service and highly recommend them to anyone needing pool care.
