What a weekly visit covers
Leaves, needles and seeds come off the surface first, before they sink and stain. Walls, steps and the tile line are brushed, the floor is vacuumed, the skimmer and pump baskets are emptied and the filter pressure is checked. The visit ends with a water test and the chemistry adjusted on the spot, all logged in your E-Report with photos.
A short, busy summer
NOAA's 1991 to 2020 normals for Portland International Airport show July and August averaging only about half an inch of rain each, with highs near 82 F and about 14.6 days a year at 90 F or above. Pools get most of their use in that window, and warm water uses chlorine quickly, so weekly visits keep algae from getting a start during the weeks that matter most.
Soft water needs balancing
Portland Water Bureau's Bull Run water is very soft, about 7 to 11 parts per million of hardness, and is disinfected with chloramine. Each visit checks calcium hardness, alkalinity and pH together so the water does not slowly etch plaster or grout.

Portland Pool Cleaning: Frequently Asked Questions
Which Portland neighborhoods do you cover?
We look after pools across Portland, including Lake Oswego, West Linn, Oregon City, Happy Valley, Gresham and Tualatin. The full list of areas is on our Portland page. If you do not see yours, get in touch and we will confirm.
Why is my pool still cloudy right after a cleaning?
Cleaning removes debris and corrects the chemistry, but the filter still needs time to clear fine particles from the water. Slight cloudiness usually settles as the pump runs. If it does not clear, or it gets worse, let your technician know so the filter and chemistry can be checked.
Can my hot tub be cleaned on the same visit?
Yes. If you have a hot tub as well as a pool, it can be serviced on the same visit and the same plan.
How often should a pool be professionally cleaned?
Most pools in regular use are serviced weekly through the swimming season, because skimming, brushing and chemical balance all drift within days rather than weeks. Pools that are used less, or that are covered for part of the year, are often fine on a visit every other week. The right interval depends on how much the pool is used, how much tree cover sits above it and the local climate, so it is worth asking for a recommendation for your own pool.
What is included in a pool cleaning visit?
A standard visit covers the water, the surfaces and the equipment: skimming debris from the surface, brushing walls and steps, vacuuming the floor, emptying skimmer and pump baskets, checking the filter and testing and balancing the water chemistry. Doing all of it on one visit matters because these jobs undo each other if they are done separately.
