What are the pool fence rules in Burnaby?
Burnaby's Swimming Pool Enclosure Bylaw No. 11119 applies to private pools of 14 square metres or more and 0.5 m or more deep. They must be fully enclosed by a sturdy non climbable barrier at least 1.5 m high, with no opening over 100 mm and access only through self closing, self latching and lockable gates latched on the pool side at least 1 m above ground. That 1.5 m height is higher than several North Shore bylaws, so confirm requirements with the City before building.
Do hot tubs need a fence in Burnaby?
They can. Burnaby's Swimming Pool Enclosure Bylaw counts above ground pools, wading pools, hot tubs and spas as swimming pools if they meet the 14 square metre and 0.5 m depth thresholds. The City also requires building, plumbing and electrical permits for pools over 14 square metres and deeper than 500 mm. Check your hot tub's size against the bylaw with the City.
When should I close my pool in Burnaby?
A Lower Mainland pool company that lists Burnaby in its service area recommends closing residential pools late September to mid October, once the water stays below about 15°C. The City describes its own outdoor pools as open late spring through summer. A closing visit cleans, balances and winterizes the pool before the wet season.

We rented our house and needed a hot tub cleaning service asap. I called PPS and they responded to the urgency of our situation right away. Throughout the rental period PPS was extremely flexible and offered after hours contact through text. Their service is very professional and met the needs of an extreme picky house guest. I’d highly recommend them to anyone needing a hot tub cleaning service.
We did call Puddle's for a inspection and the guy Yuvi told us exactly what needs to be done no left or right just direct things that needed to solved and we liked them and overall Management ia soo good. Pricing wise super fair even though it's Vancouver lol!
I don't know much about but a guy name Yuvi youngman seems so professional and he's the one we been looking for he's the best and yeah he's a part of Puddle's so i will recommend this company highly. Thanks again to the Management Miss Tina and Yuvi.
Puddle Pools might be the only company in the Vancouver area that services inflatable spas. I contacted five other companies, and they were the only ones willing to help. On top of that, they were professional, prompt, and reasonably priced, especially compared to how much others charge for leak detection in pools and hot tubs. I’d definitely use their services again.

Our family just can't say enough good things about Puddle Pool Services. We had a terrible provider before - completely unresponsive, often a no show, chaotic invoicing, and no reporting. What a difference with Puddle Pools! As soon as our account was set up we were on a weekly schedule and it was like clockwork! The technicians are completely reliable, thorough, and send a report after each visit with check marks for what was done for servicing, short notes, and pictures. Talk about over the top service. This past week we had a pipe joint fail in the poolhouse and we were away. Our caretaker noticed it right away and Puddle Pools had someone out the next day to check and find out what they needed to bring the next day for repairs. They turned off the pump to protect it while the caretaker refilled the pool and then came back the next day to turn it on. What could have been an expensive disaster was all taken care of. The stress relief this provided was huge! We love, love, love Puddle Pools. Thank you, Travis!
