Got a 20 year old gunnite pool. All my equipment was failing, and Aaron helped me choose new equipment that had better features but also compatible with the original panel/motherboard. Everything worked great, price was competitive, he told me when it would be delivered, and followed through on everything. It's a small company, but you can tell he wants to grow by delivering great service, and word of mouth. Highly recommend you give him a shot!!

Charleston Pool Cleaning Service

Charleston County is known for beautiful architecture and historic homes. In an environment that is all about curb appeal you can’t have a dirty swimming pool ruining your visuals. More than just looking awful a contaminated swim space is a serious risk to health and safety.

When you want to make the most out of the summer season but aren’t keen to spend your leisure time skimming and scrubbing, just call Puddle! Expert Charleston County pool cleaning services leave swim spaces sparkling clean and water systems running smoothly.

Custom Pool Care Routines: Tailored Cleaning Programs That Work

As a pool owner you know that keeping up with a regular pool maintenance routine is easier said than done. The needs of your swim space will change based on climate, season, rate of use and surrounding areas. Instead of relying on a one-size-fits-all program it’s important to create a tailored cleaning program that will keep water clear, prevent algae growth clean surfaces and keep swimmers safe.

Puddle technicians break the pool cleaning process down into multiple steps. A multi-step program makes it possible to clean surfaces, balance water chemistry, and treat internal water systems that often go ignored.

Water testing doesn’t stop at chlorine levels. Real water balance includes sanitizer levels, pH levels, total alkalinity and calcium. Most basic test strips won’t provide insight on all of these aspects of water chemistry.

Removing debris from pool basins isn’t as simple as flipping the switch on a robotic cleaner. A standard pool vacuum isn’t designed to navigate hard angles or complex areas like steps. Puddle technicians use manual vacuums to get rid of buildup in those hard to reach areas. In addition to vacuuming up unwanted items and skimming water surfaces Puddle crews empty the skimmer basket, flush plumbing lines and check pool filters for a full view.

Seasonal Pool Maintenance: What to Do & When

As the seasons change so do the needs of your swimming pool. You likely aren’t doing the backstroke in an outdoor pool when the temperature dips down to 45 but your pool still needs attention. Pool water that is sitting stagnant is prone to contamination. Just throwing on a pool cover and letting swim spaces sit for months at a time is going to lead to real problems when you try to open your pool again in spring. When you want to make the most out of your swimming pool, make seasonal pool care a part of your routine maintenance.

Pool Closing

Even in a mild climate it’s a good idea to prepare your swimming pool for the off-season. If pool water is left sitting idle it won’t take long for water to go cloudy or algae to form. This doesn’t just look bad, it can actually damage internal plumbing and water systems. Puddle technicians apply a special combination of chemicals, drop water levels, flush lines, scrub surfaces and remove any vulnerable components to prevent damage.

Pool Opening

Before you hop into a pool it’s important to make sure that it’s a clean and sanitary swim space. Without regular cleanings during fall and winter pools will likely be contaminated, discolored and full of algae. Restoring pool condition doesn’t happen overnight but often takes several days. During this time it’s important to apply multiple chemical treatments, scrub surfaces, empty skimmer baskets, remove debris, flush lines, test internal systems and balance pool water.

Off-Season Pool Programs

Just because you aren’t using your swimming pool regularly doesn’t mean that it doesn’t need to be cleaned. During high use periods pools should be cleaned on a weekly basis but when temperatures cool it’s a good idea to drop the frequency to bi-weekly. Puddle technicians provide the same level of high-quality care and maintain the same multi-step process to keep your water systems in great shape all year long.

Residential and Commercial Pool Cleaning

Charleston SC is a major destination for tourists from all over the world, as well as a great place to call home. This means a strong mix of backyard swim spaces and businesses that offer up access to swimming pools, spas and hot tubs. Commercial pools are high traffic areas and with a high rate of use regular maintenance plans won’t cut it.

With experience in inground swim spaces and above ground pools, there’s nothing that our Puddle technicians can’t handle. Routine cleans and maintenance keep pool owners in the loop about the condition of their water systems. Even a small issue will get worse over time leading to the need for expensive pool repairs and/or premature replacements. Having to close a pool for a few days is enough to negatively impact your revenue and upset customers. Ask your local Puddle technician about flexible hotel pool care programs and keep your swim space in great shape.

Charleston Pool Cleaning: Frequently Asked Questions

How often should a pool be cleaned in Charleston, South Carolina?

In Charleston, we recommend professional pool cleaning at least once per week. Due to our year-round warm climate and intense South Carolina sun, chlorine depletes faster here than in other regions. Weekly service prevents algae blooms and ensures your water chemistry remains safe for swimming in the subtropical heat.

Why is my Charleston pool turning green even with chemicals?

Green pools in Charleston are often caused by high phosphate levels or 'locked' chlorine due to excessive cyanuric acid. Heavy seasonal rains can also wash debris and contaminants into the water. Puddle Pools provides 'Green to Clean' recovery services to shock the system and restore your water's crystal-clear balance.

Is a saltwater pool easier to maintain in the South Carolina climate?

Saltwater pools are popular in Charleston because they provide a softer swim and a more consistent delivery of sanitizer. While they require less manual chemical handling, they still need weekly skimming, brushing, and cell cleaning to prevent calcium buildup. At Puddle Pools, we maintain both traditional chlorine and saltwater systems.

How do I choose the best pool cleaning service in Charleston, SC?

When choosing a Charleston pool service, look for a company that is fully licensed, insured, and provides real-time service reports. Puddle Pools offers 'Happy Snappy' technicians who send e-reports with photos after every visit, so you know exactly when your pool was cleaned and what chemicals were added.

How does heavy rain affect my pool's water chemistry?

Heavy South Carolina rain can dilute your pool's salt and chlorine levels while lowering the pH. This makes the water acidic and creates a breeding ground for algae. After a typical Charleston thunderstorm, it is important to test your water and potentially 'shock' the pool to maintain a safe, sanitary environment.
