Pool Cleaning in Novato, CA
Keeping a pool in top condition shouldn’t feel like a full-time job. In Novato, abundant sunshine and surrounding greenery mean your water requires consistent attention to remain clear and balanced. Whether you’re swimming morning laps or hosting weekend barbecues, the goal is always the same, crystal-clear water and safe, comfortable conditions for everyone. Puddle Pool Services provides the local expertise needed to meet the unique demands of Northern California pool ownership, delivering reliable care that keeps your backyard ready to enjoy year-round.
The Importance of Professional Care
Many homeowners attempt to manage their pools on their own, but it’s surprisingly easy to fall behind. Missing even a few days of maintenance can result in cloudy water, debris buildup, or imbalanced chemicals. Puddle Pool Services ensures that every component of your system is operating properly and efficiently. Our team pays close attention to the small details that keep your backyard oasis clean, clear, and inviting throughout the year. By trusting our experienced professionals, you not only protect your investment but also save valuable time and avoid the hassle of handling heavy chemicals yourself. With consistent, reliable care, your pool stays swim-ready without the stress.
Comprehensive Water Chemistry and Sanitization
The secret to an exceptional swim starts with perfectly balanced water. At Puddle Pool Services, our technicians prioritize precise pH balancing to ensure your pool is neither too acidic nor too alkaline. Proper balance protects your skin and eyes from irritation while also extending the life of your equipment. When water chemistry is neglected, surfaces can become etched, stained, or prematurely worn, leading to costly repairs. To maintain that brilliant sparkle, we perform regular shock treatments that break down organic contaminants and restore chlorine effectiveness. Algae prevention is another key focus of our service. In Novato’s warm, sunny climate, green or yellow blooms can develop almost overnight. Our proactive strategy eliminates spores before they take hold, helping you avoid the frustration and expense of a full “green-to-clean” restoration later.
Routine Maintenance for Longevity
A truly clean pool requires more than balanced chemicals, it demands attentive care of the equipment that keeps everything running smoothly. Puddle Pool Services handles the heavy lifting, including thorough pool vacuuming to remove sunken dirt and leaves that settle beyond the reach of surface cleaning. We also perform detailed skimmer basket clearing to ensure proper water flow to your pump. When baskets become overfilled, the motor is forced to work harder, increasing wear and the risk of premature failure. Filtration is the core of your pool’s overall health. Our service includes professional filter cleaning and backwashing to eliminate the fine particles that chemicals alone cannot remove. A clean filter keeps your water polished, clear, and energy-efficient. During every visit, we also complete a routine equipment inspection. Our technicians check for leaks, unusual noises, and worn seals or fittings. Addressing a minor drip today can prevent a costly repair, or even a flooded equipment pad, tomorrow. With consistent, proactive care, your pool remains reliable, efficient, and ready whenever you are.

Pool care in Novato
Most of Novato's tap water comes from North Marin Water District, which buys treated Russian River water from the Sonoma County Water Agency and produces about a quarter of the city's supply at its Stafford Lake treatment plant. The district's 2025 water quality report lists average hardness of 110 mg/L (6.4 grains per gallon) for the Russian River supply and 91 mg/L (5.3 grains per gallon) for Stafford Lake water, so calcium and alkalinity are tested on every visit to keep the water balanced and the tile line clear of scale.
The district has restricted filling pools during past droughts, including an emergency ban on refilling drained pools in 2021, so we check its current rules before any drain and refill. Summers are dry: NOAA's 1991 to 2020 normals for the nearest Marin stations at Kentfield and San Rafael show July averaging no rain at all, with highs in the low 80s F. That dry, warm stretch is when weekly cleaning keeps algae from getting a start.

Novato Pool Cleaning: Frequently Asked Questions
How much does pool cleaning cost in Novato?
Weekly pool cleaning is $200 to $225 a month for a small pool, $215 to $230 for a medium pool and $225 to $245 for a large pool. Chemicals only service is $125 to $175 a month. Full service, cleaning and chemicals together, is $200 to $250 a month. A one-time green to clean recovery is $350 to $550. Your quote confirms the price for your pool.
How often should a pool be professionally cleaned?
Most pools in regular use are serviced weekly through the swimming season, because skimming, brushing and chemical balance all drift within days rather than weeks. Pools that are used less, or that are covered for part of the year, are often fine on a visit every other week. The right interval depends on how much the pool is used, how much tree cover sits above it and the local climate, so it is worth asking for a recommendation for your own pool.
What is included in a pool cleaning visit?
A standard visit covers the water, the surfaces and the equipment: skimming debris from the surface, brushing walls and steps, vacuuming the floor, emptying skimmer and pump baskets, checking the filter and testing and balancing the water chemistry. Doing all of it on one visit matters because these jobs undo each other if they are done separately.
Do I need to be home during the service?
No. As long as the technician can reach the pool and the equipment, service is usually carried out while nobody is home, which is how most regular customers prefer it. Arrange access to gates or side entrances in advance, and let us know about pets, alarms or anything else on the route to the pool.
Can cleaning fix a green pool, or is that a different job?
A green pool is an algae bloom, and clearing one is recovery work rather than routine cleaning. It usually needs shock treatment, extended filtration and repeat visits before normal service resumes, because killing algae and removing it from the water are two separate stages. Once the pool is clear, regular cleaning is what stops it happening again.
Travis and Javi have been fantastic to work with. Their professionalism, communication and kindness make them the best and I’m so grateful to have them taking care of all my pool needs. I highly recommend them!
Travis and Javier at Puddle have rescued us. An absolute pleasure to work with and great work at reasonable prices. I’ve had multiple neck surgeries and after a car accident aggravated my conditions I couldn’t maintain the hot tub which I needed for therapy. The fountains also benefit from their expertise and hard work. Our yard is so much more enjoyable and a source of joy instead of being a burden. Thanks to you both.
Wow! Puddle Pool Services are amazing! I had an issue (or thought I did) with a new spa tub I recently purchased and to ease my anxiety before going full on with the tub I needed someone with expertise to check if we had issues with a possible airlock in our pump system and check all the jets etc. I called several pool companies on a Thursday evening and Travis was the only one that called me back that night and stated a technician would come the next day after his day was done with everything already scheduled AND touched base with me a couple of times the day of keeping me aprised. Javier was awesome and checked all jets and dials plus went behind the panels to check the pumps. Turns out everything was fine and they didn’t charge me. What company does that? Thank you for being prompt with responding to me, thank you for being an honest trustworthy company and not taking advantage of my anxiety and lack of knowledge regarding my swim spa and thank you for sending me a friendly technician that oozed kindness and professionalism. I can’t recommend them enough for you pool or spa needs. Cheers!
It has been such a pleasant experience to have Puddle Pool Services taking care of our hot tub. The staff is professional and friendly. Our hot tub has never been so clean and inviting!
Xavier and Travis got my pool, sparkling real fast and keep it that way

Travis at Puddle Pool Services not only fixed our 20-yr old hot tub but now service it weekly and keep it in perfect condition. He is easy to work with, very responsive and honest and came to our house at least once or twice before they fixed our tub and didn’t even charge me for those trips. Do yourself a favor and hire him for your pool or hot tub maintenance to simplify your life!
Puddle Pools came to my rescue here in Petaluma. I was in desperate need of a reliable, consistent pool cleaning service. I had looked in several others, but Travis was quick to respond, friendly and able to come asses our situation the next day. They brought our pool back to its sparkling glory and even sent a detailed report of the service. I am now hooked and signed for weekly service!
