When forecasts call for a multi-day hard freeze we drop water below the skimmer, run the pump continuously through freezing temperatures, drip exposed lines and pull heater drain plugs on extended events. This is the same protocol we used during the 2021 Texas freeze and similar events.
What causes my pool to be slimy on the walls?
Wall slime is early-stage algae or biofilm. Brushing on every visit prevents it. Increased sanitizer and a maintenance dose of algaecide stop it from progressing to a visible bloom.
