At one and two family homes and townhouses a pool with a powered safety cover meeting ASTM F1346 is exempt from barrier Sections 305.2 through 305.7. Confirm what applies to your property with the City before building or changing a barrier.
What water saving rules apply to newer San Antonio pools?
For pools built on or after May 1, 2013, City Code Sec. 34-273 says private residential pools may not use sand media filters and any automatic fill must have an automatic shut off. Every residential pool also needs a hose end timer and a backflow preventer at the nearest hose bib. Check with the City if you are unsure whether your pool falls under these rules.
