Step-by-Step Winterization
Our experienced technicians follow a precise checklist to ensure a thorough and effective pool closing. Each step is critical for preventing damage and maintaining the integrity of your pool system.
- Water Chemistry Adjustment: We balance your pool water to prevent algae and mineral buildup during the off season. This includes adding specific winterizing chemicals.
- Lowering Water Level: The water level is lowered to below the skimmer and return lines, preventing ice expansion from damaging these critical components.
- Blowing Out Lines: This is a crucial step. We use powerful air compressors to completely remove all water from your pool's circulation lines (skimmers, returns, main drain, cleaner lines). This process prevents water from freezing and cracking pipes, which is a common cause of costly pool damage.
- Adding Antifreeze: After blowing out lines, non-toxic pool-grade antifreeze is added to strategic plumbing sections, such as the skimmer and main drain lines, to provide an extra layer of protection against residual water freezing.
- Equipment Disconnection & Winterization: Your pump, filter, heater and other equipment are drained, disconnected and prepared for winter storage or protection. This includes removing drain plugs and ensuring all water is expelled.
- Safety Cover Installation: We expertly install your pool’s safety cover, ensuring it is properly tensioned and secured. A good safety cover protects your pool from debris and provides a crucial safety barrier for children and pets throughout the winter.
- Removing & Storing Accessories: Ladders, handrails, skimmer baskets, and other removable accessories are taken out, cleaned and stored safely for the winter.
