Conroe Pool Leak Detection

There’s no such thing as a good leak, but when they happen in swimming pools, even the smallest leaks can become disasters. Nothing wrecks a summer faster than a leaking pool, but local Puddle technicians are here to help! The longer that you wait, the worse a leak becomes, so book your Conroe pool leak detection at the first sign of water loss.

Part of what makes swimming pool leak detection so complicated is that water loss comes in many forms. It can be tough to determine if you’re dealing with the aftermath of evaporation caused by high heat or the result of a damaged pipe somewhere in your system. Puddle technicians will diagnose whether or not you’ve got a leak, isolate the problem area and even help you get it repaired.

Swimming Pool Leak Detection: Diagnosing Water Loss

Pools are often left up to the elements. Average temperatures at the height of summer can reach up to nearly 100. When things get hot, it’s common to see evaporation and a drop in water levels. Hot weather burns off pool water and chemicals, so it’s common to see somewhere between 2-4 inches of water loss over a week. If you’re seeing more than that but aren’t quite sure that it’s a leak, it’s time for a bucket test!

A bucket test involves putting a bucket of water next to the pool and marking the water level in each. If, after a couple of days, the water level in the pool has gone down more than the level in the bucket, you’re dealing with a leak.

Other signs that you might be dealing with a pool leak include higher-than-average utility bills, inability to balance chemical levels in pool water, and pools of standing water around the pool sides. Figuring out that you’re dealing with a leak is a great first step, but it’s only the first one! Next up is deciphering what type of leak you’re dealing with.

Pool Leak Detection in Conroe: How Puddle Gets Results

You can’t fix a pool leak if you don’t know where it’s coming from. The majority of these leaks can be divided into structural and plumbing leaks. In the past it took a lot of time and energy to track down problem areas. The good news is that Puddle uses state-of-the-art tools to track down problem areas instead of relying on a snorkel!

Structural Leaks: There are plenty of ways that pool structures can become damaged. Blunt force from falling trees or storm damage, cracks caused by eroding soil and sharp objects in pools can all cause serious leaks. Dye tests are used to track down the affected areas and then narrow it down to the source of the water loss. Pool pumps are shut off, and when the water is still, dyes are strategically placed inside basins. If there is water leaking out it will pull the dyes along with it, leaving a bright and visible trail that can be followed.

Plumbing Leaks: It can be tough to diagnose plumbing leaks, especially when dealing with inground pools. Puddle technicians assess whether or not there are leaks in these systems with a pressure test. This type of testing involves applying a steady stream of air to plumbing. If this air flow comes into contact with damage or a leak, it will create bubbles that are visible in the return lines. Underground leaks will cause saturated soil to make gurgling sounds that can be tracked with hearing tools.

Each member of the Puddle team is highly trained, experienced and fully insured for peace of mind and great results. Once the source of a pool leak is identified, technicians will work to create effective repair plans that are as non-invasive as possible.
