Pool Maintenance: A Multi-Step Approach 

Swimming pools are made up of a series of different systems, each of which have to be kept in good condition if you want to keep your swim space running. There are plenty of test strips on the market that claim to help you balance chlorine levels but there is more than sanitizers at play in a swimming pool. When you want to keep swimmers safe, get rid of bacteria and eliminate algae growth it is important to test and balance pH levels, alkalinity and calcium. 

Dealing With Debris: As tempting as it is to flip the switch one a robotic pool cleaner and hope that it deals with your debris, this is just wishful thinking. Pool vacuums can’t reach into corners or manage tight spaces around stairs. Floating items will sit on top of water surfaces until they either rot and break apart or clog up skimmer baskets and filters. This means unnecessary wear and tear to components and lines and shortened lifespans and the need for expensive repairs and replacements. A cartridge filter should be removed, cleaned and reinstalled ever 3-4 months while a sand filter should be emptied and replaced with new sand every 3-5 years. 

Seasonal Care: As the seasons change so do the needs of your swimming pool. When you are dealing with pool openings, closings or just deep cleans following a long period of disuse, it isn’t as simple as throwing on a pool cover and hoping for the best. Winter weather can cause damage to pool surfaces, structures and equipment. During spring it is common to throw back a pool cover to see green, swampy water and algae blooms.
