Jacksonville Pool Leak Detection
A pool leak doesn’t always start out large. Even a pinhole leak will get worse over time and will eventually be enough to cause widespread damage across a home or commercial property. Managing water leaks in swimming pools is a complicated process but local Puddle technicians make it look easy! Experienced Puddle techs provide thorough Jacksonville pool leak detection for inground and above ground pools of all sizes, shapes and styles.
Anything that can hold water runs a risk of leaks including a pool, spa or hot tub. A swimming pool holds thousands of gallons of water at any given time. If you’re dealing with a leak all of this water needs somewhere to go! If you suspect that your swimming pool is losing water don’t hesitate to call a local Puddle pro to track down and isolate problem areas before you’re dealing with a disaster.
How to Identify Pool Leaks: A Quick Guide For Pool Owners
One of the biggest obstacles in detecting leaks in pools is identifying water loss. It’s normal for the water levels in swimming pools to drop over the course of a week. High heats cause evaporation and a high rate of use means swimmers are splashing water out with every cannonball. On average pool owners should expect to see between 3-5 inches of water loss over the course of a week.
If you find yourself having to refill water levels on a daily basis or water is dropping faster than expected it’s a good idea to mark the level and monitor it over a couple of days. Measuring water levels can be tricky so if you aren’t having much success with it, there are a few other clues that you can fall back on. Pool owners have an idea of what their average utility and water bills should be. If these numbers skyrocket without an explanation your pool might be the culprit. Water puddles forming in the surrounding areas of your swimming pool can be a sign of underground leaks.
Waiting to schedule a professional pool leak detection service will result in serious damage. Puddle technicians are happy to offer quick response times and service so you can pinpoint problem areas and organize necessary pool leak repair.
The Puddle Technique: How We Get Results
With access to advanced technology and years of experience under our belts there is no leak that our Puddle crews can’t find. Pool leaks can be divided into either structural leaks or plumbing leaks. Both of these are major issues and each of them has a specific type of testing that works best.
Dye testing is best suited for tracking down waters loss caused by damage. Common culprits for structural damage include slab leaks and tears in vinyl liners. Dye tests involve turning off circulation systems and applying colored dyes to still water. Dyes are attracted to the vacuum created by a leak and will leave a trail that leads right to the problem area.
Pressure testing is the best method to identify leaks inside internal water systems. This process involves applying a stream of airflow to return lines. If there is a leak inside the pool plumbing lines it will create bubbles that can be spotted visually or, in the case of underground leaks, saturated soil will make bubbling noises.
