Puddle Pool Services is here to provide professional, worry-free pool closing services, protecting your investment throughout the winter. We have years of experience serving the Nacogdoches community, understanding the unique challenges our local climate presents.
East Texas winters can be unpredictable. While we enjoy many mild days, sudden cold snaps and freezing temperatures are common and can wreak havoc on an unprepared swimming pool. Water left in pipes or equipment can freeze, expand and crack vital components, leading to expensive repairs come springtime. Moreover, an improperly closed pool can become a breeding ground for algae and other contaminants, making spring opening a much larger, more difficult, and costly task. Proper winterization is more than just throwing a cover over your pool. It’s a meticulous process designed to prevent structural damage, protect plumbing, maintain water quality, and extend the lifespan of your pool equipment. Our specialized pool closing service ensures every critical step is taken.
At Puddle Pool Services, we pride ourselves on a systematic and thorough approach to pool closing, which we call our PuddleGuard Winterization System. To help you understand the value and detail of our service, here's a look at the key steps in our comprehensive winterization process:
| Winterization Step | Technical Explanation | Benefit to Your Pool |
|---|---|---|
| Pool & Water Prep | Comprehensive debris removal, brushing and chemical balancing (e.g., pH, alkalinity, calcium hardness) with specialized winterizing agents. | Prevents algae growth, staining and scaling, ensuring easier spring opening. Extends plaster and liner life. |
| Line Winterization | Blowing out lines: Using high-volume air to forcefully expel all water from underground pipes (suction and return lines), filters, and heaters. Antifreeze application: Introducing non-toxic pool-grade antifreeze into vulnerable pipes for added freeze protection. | Eliminates water that could freeze, expand and crack plumbing, filters and heaters, preventing catastrophic freeze damage. |
| Equipment Securing | Draining and disconnecting pumps, filters, heaters and automatic cleaners. Removing drain plugs and skimmer baskets for storage. | Protects sensitive electronic and mechanical components from freeze damage and prevents accumulation of standing water. |
| Safety Cover Installation | Precisely fitting and anchoring your chosen safety cover (mesh or solid) over the pool, ensuring proper tension and fit. | Keeps debris out, provides a secure barrier for children and pets, and maintains pool cleanliness for off-season care. |
Nacogdoches residents know that our weather can turn on a dime. One week it's warm, the next we could see a hard freeze. This unpredictability is a significant local pain point for pool owners. If you try to delay your pool closing until the last minute, or if you attempt to close it without professional expertise, then you risk an unexpected early freeze causing severe, irreparable damage to your pool's vital plumbing and equipment. Puddle Pool Services eliminates this risk. We offer timely and professional pool closing service, allowing you to confidently prepare for winter without worrying about sudden temperature drops. Whether your home is nestled near the historic Downtown Square or located further out towards Lanana Creek Trail, we provide peace of mind by securing your pool investment well before winter takes hold. Our plumbing protection methods are specifically designed for the Texas climate.
Let's dive deeper into some key professional terms you might hear during your pool closing service.
This isn't just a simple air compressor job. Our technicians use industrial-grade air blowers to create enough pressure to push every drop of water out of your pool's pipes, from the skimmer and main drain lines all the way through your filter, pump and return lines. This technique, a cornerstone of effective winterization, is absolutely crucial for preventing burst pipes when temperatures drop below freezing.
Even after blowing out lines, some residual water might remain in dips or low points of your plumbing, especially in parts that are difficult to drain completely. That's where non-toxic, pool-grade antifreeze comes in. We carefully introduce this solution into vulnerable lines. It lowers the freezing point of any remaining water, offering an additional layer of plumbing protection against unexpected ice expansion.
A safety cover installation is more than just stretching fabric over your pool. It involves correctly tensioning springs, securing anchors, and ensuring the cover sits tautly across the entire pool surface. A professionally installed safety cover not only keeps leaves and debris out but also acts as a secure barrier, preventing accidental falls by children or pets. This proactive approach is a major part of ensuring proper off season care and safety.
Our goal is not just to close your pool, but to ensure its health and longevity through the entire non-swimming season. By carefully managing water chemistry, thoroughly draining and protecting all plumbing, and securely installing your safety cover, we contribute significantly to your pool's off-season care. This detailed approach minimizes the effort and cost associated with opening your pool in the spring, allowing you to enjoy your swimming oasis sooner. Our pool closing service guarantees comprehensive protection for your valuable investment.

Balancing the water and adding winter treatment, lowering the water to the correct level, blowing out and plugging the lines and draining the pump, filter and heater. Accessories are removed and stored and the cover is fitted. The order matters, which is why it is done as one visit.
No, and doing so can cause real damage. Water in the pool is part of what holds the structure in place against ground pressure, and an empty pool can shift or lift. The water level is lowered rather than emptied, which is a different thing.
It is worth clearing heavy accumulations of leaves, snow or standing water where you can do so safely from the edge, since sustained weight shortens a cover's life and stresses its anchors. Never walk on a cover to do it. If something looks wrong, it is better checked than guessed at.
It uses high volume air to clear water out of the underground lines, so there is nothing left in them to freeze and crack the pipes over winter.
Yes, where it is needed. After the blow out, winter plugs go in and non toxic antifreeze is added to critical lines as extra protection against freezing.
