Austin Pool Cleaning Service

Nothing beats the heat in Austin like diving into a swimming pool. As great as it is to cannonball into a pool, keeping them clean can be tough! If you’re spending more time scrubbing and skimming than you are doing the backstroke, it’s time to call Puddle for your pool care. Professional Austin pool cleaning services keep swimmers safe, water sparkling clean and prevent damage so you can enjoy the swim season.

Pool Maintenance: More Than Just Water Chemistry

Swimming pools are made up of many moving parts. Even if a pool looks clean, there can be issues lurking just below the surface. The best way to keep swimming pools running smoothly is with a thorough and consistent cleaning schedule.

Because swimming pools are so complex it’s important not to get stuck on surface levels. A proper cleaning will focus on surfaces as well as internal water systems, water chemistry and pool equipment.

Step One: Remove Debris

Getting rid of unwanted items in swimming pools is easier said than done. Even with a pool cover on debris has a way of getting inside and contaminating water. Anyone can scoop up floating items but what about sunken items and residue? Robotic cleaners are mass produced and aren’t designed to navigate angles, steps or complex shapes. Manual vacuums allow Puddle technicians to get into those tough to reach areas for a full cleaning. Speciality brushes are used to scrub residue from water lines.

Step Two: Water Treatments

Proper water balance is about more than just chlorine levels. Chemical treatments are designed to kill off bacteria and reduce the risk of algae growth. Without regular application it won’t take long for pool water to go cloudy or green. Puddle technicians use state of the art testing kits to measure and balance sanitizers, pH levels, total alkalinity and calcium.

Step Three: Check Pool Equipment & Pool Filters

The condition of a swimming pool largely depends on the filtration system and circulation system. Filters are designed to trap and hold small bits and pieces while letting filtered water pass through. If filters aren’t cleaned regularly it will be more difficult for water to pass through and that puts strain on pumps and other important components. Routine cleanings reduce the need for premature repairs and expensive replacements.

Seasonal Pool Maintenance: From Pool Parties to the Off-Season

Texas might not have to worry about freezing temperatures but that doesn’t mean you can just throw on a pool cover and forget about cleaning throughout fall and winter. The word “winter” is used often but disuse can cause just as much damage as cold weather. If you are planning on taking a long vacation or just don’t want to bother with a swim space over the fall and winter, opt for a closing and protect your water systems.

Pool Closing

When you hear “winter chemicals” it’s not all about preventing freezing. This particular type of chemical combination is designed to prevent algae growth and help to eliminate bacteria. You can’t just throw on a winter cover and hope for the best! A closing involves dropping water levels, applying chemical treatments and closing up drain plugs.

Pool Opening

Getting an inground or above ground pool ready for use is a lot of hard work. After sitting idle for months it takes heavy scrubbing, multiple rounds of water testing and balancing and deep cleaning to restore water condition.

Off-Season Pool Programs

Pool owners in the greater Austin area and all across Texas likely aren’t doing the backstroke in February. Even if a pool isn’t being used, it’s important to keep it clean. Puddle technicians offer a bi-weekly cleaning program during the fall and winter. These cleanings keep water systems clean and running smoothly during the off-season so when you want to swim, just turn on the heater and hop in.

Puddle Pool Service: Expert Residential & Commercial Pool Service in Austin Texas

Puddle technicians don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all cleaning program. Local experts create programs designed to fit the unique needs of your swim space. During the spring/summer when the weather is warm we highly recommend a weekly pool cleaning regimen. During the off-season our Puddle crews advise switching over to a bi-weekly program.

When you call Puddle for your pool cleaning needs you can expect top customer service, excellent results and affordable rates. Our prices are transparent and the cost of chemicals is included in the rate so you are never surprised by a higher than expected bill.

Austin Areas We Serve

Our weekly pool cleaning and hot tub maintenance routes cover Austin and the surrounding suburbs including Westlake, Tarrytown, Round Rock, Lakeway, Bee Cave, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, Leander, Dripping Springs, West Lake Hills and Hyde Park. Austin Pool Cleaning: Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a typical pool cleaning visit take?

A standard residential pool cleaning takes 30 to 60 minutes. First-of-season cleans, large pools or recovery from heavy debris can run 60 to 90 minutes. Commercial and HOA pools take longer due to higher bather loads and stricter compliance requirements.

What is combined chlorine and why does it matter?

Combined chlorine is chloramine – the byproduct of chlorine reacting with organic matter (sweat, sunscreen, urine). It produces the strong chlorine smell people associate with pools. Above 0.5 ppm is the sign you need to shock. Combined chlorine is irritating to skin and eyes.

Can I pay by credit card or set up auto-pay?

Yes. We accept all major credit cards and offer auto-pay through your customer portal. Most clients use auto-pay so they never miss an invoice.

How often should the pool filter be cleaned?

Sand filters need backwashing when pressure rises 8 to 10 psi above clean. Cartridge filters need rinsing every 4 to 6 weeks and a full chemical soak twice a year. DE filters need backwashing on a schedule plus a full teardown annually. We track filter pressure on every visit.

Why does my pool water turn yellow, green or brown?

Yellow often means metal staining or pollen tannins. Green means algae or copper from corrosion. Brown often means iron or organic tannin staining. Each has a different treatment. Send us a photo and we will identify what is happening and bring the right chemicals to the next visit.

Is it safe to swim during your service visit?

We prefer to service an empty pool because chemicals are added and balanced during the visit. After service the water needs 30 to 60 minutes to circulate fully before swimming. We text you when service is complete and the pool is ready.

How long should my pool pump last?

Single-speed pumps last 5 to 8 years. Variable-speed pumps last 8 to 12 years and use significantly less electricity. We flag end-of-life signs (humming, intermittent operation, seal leaks) in the E-Report so you can plan replacement before failure.

When should I replace my filter cartridge?

Most cartridges last 2 to 3 years with regular cleaning. Signs of replacement include cracked endcaps, torn pleats, persistent high pressure right after cleaning, or visibly damaged media. We flag it in the E-Report when we see it.

How does Austin's Edwards Aquifer hard water affect pool chemistry?

Pools in Austin are filled with Edwards Aquifer hard water at 200 to 350 ppm calcium hardness. Without active management you get faster scaling on the tile line, plaster etching and shorter equipment life. We test calcium hardness on every visit and run a sequestrant on a quarterly cycle to hold the water within the 200 to 400 ppm pool range.

Which Austin neighborhoods do you serve for pool cleaning?

We run weekly pool cleaning routes across Austin and surrounding areas including Westlake, Tarrytown, Round Rock, Lakeway, Bee Cave, Cedar Park and Pflugerville. We add new Austin-area neighborhoods to our service map as demand grows. Request a free quote and we will confirm coverage and scheduling within one business day.
