Not very. The City of Cape Coral's 2025 water quality report rates city water soft to moderately hard at 5.5 to 6.5 grains per gallon of total hardness. The city makes it by reverse osmosis from brackish Upper Floridan Aquifer wells, then blends some raw water back in to raise hardness to a moderate level. Homes on private wells will have different water, so test before assuming.
If a storm damages the screen enclosure or fence that secures your pool, Cape Coral's code requires a temporary mesh safety barrier at least four feet high around the whole pool, spa or hot tub. It must go up within ten days of the event and may stay for up to 90 days unless the City grants more time. An inspection after the storm helps spot gaps in the enclosure.
Cape Coral City Code Sec. 5-24 says drained pool water must go to an approved storm sewer or other approved drain or outlet at no more than 250 gallons per minute. It must never go into the sanitary sewer. The Land Development Code also bans letting pool or hot tub water run onto a neighbor's property. Check with the City before draining.

Very little, which is the point of a service, but two habits help: empty the skimmer basket if it fills between visits, and run the pump long enough each day to turn the water over. If the water goes cloudy, loses its clarity or smells strongly of chlorine, tell your technician rather than waiting for the next visit.
