Panama City Code Sec. 12-204 lists dechlorinated swimming pool discharges among the allowed non stormwater discharges, as long as they do not cause a violation of water quality standards. The same section bans other illicit discharges to the city's storm system. Confirm with the City before draining a pool.
How close to my property line can a pool be in Panama City?
Panama City's Land Development Code Sec. 110-4 requires at least five feet of rear and side setback for an unenclosed pool, measured from the outer edge of the pool deck. Screen enclosed pools need the same five feet from the deck or enclosure foundation. No power line may be nearer than ten feet above or around the water's edge. Check with the City's Building Services before a new pool or remodel.
How should I prepare my Panama City pool for a hurricane?
The City of Panama City notes that Hurricane Michael made landfall near Mexico Beach in October 2018 as a Category 5 storm. Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30.
