How close to my property line can a pool be in Panama City?
Panama City's Land Development Code Sec. 110-4 requires at least five feet of rear and side setback for an unenclosed pool, measured from the outer edge of the pool deck. Screen enclosed pools need the same five feet from the deck or enclosure foundation. No power line may be nearer than ten feet above or around the water's edge. Check with the City's Building Services before a new pool or remodel.
What pool barrier does Florida law require in Panama City?
Florida's pool safety law, Chapter 515, requires every new residential pool, hot tub or nonportable spa over 24 inches deep to have at least one safety feature. A barrier must be at least 4 feet high with gates that open outward and self close and self latch; approved covers, door alarms and pool alarms are the other options. Confirm your plans with the City before final inspection.
