Keeping your pool running smoothly takes a lot more than a skimming every now and then.

Home pool care, visit by visit

Residential service starts with the basics and adds the care that keeps a home pool from aging early. Your technician balances the water, removes leaves and debris, cleans the filter and scrubs away residue and staining. Liners, covers and equipment are part of the routine, not an afterthought. The service suits indoor and outdoor pools alike and a hot tub on the same property can share the visit and the plan. Plans come in tiers, so you choose how often we come and how much each visit covers and your local team will suggest a starting point once they have seen the pool and its equipment. You do not need to be home. Keep the gate reachable and let us know about pets or alarms. Each visit ends with an E-Report showing what was done, the chemical readings and before and after photos.

Deep cleans and year round plans

Some pools need rescuing before they can be maintained. If you have bought a home where the pool sat untouched, a one time deep clean scrubs the surfaces, clears the debris and resets the water so routine service can take over. Green water means an algae bloom and clearing that is recovery work, usually shock treatment, extended filtration and several visits before normal service starts. For a pool already in good shape, routine service keeps it there. Service can carry on through all twelve months with the schedule adjusted to the season, so the pool stays protected in winter even when nobody swims. NOAA's normals for the Los Gatos station, the nearest to Saratoga, show a January average high of 58.5 F, mild enough that many owners keep the pool running through winter.

Creek water in the hills, Hetch Hetchy in Mountain View

Many homes in Saratoga's Village and hills are filled with water that starts close by. Valley Water's retailer table lists Saratoga Creek surface water for that area and San Jose Water's 2025 report says the company manages about 6,000 acres of watershed land in the Los Gatos Creek and Saratoga Creek watersheds. In Mountain View the picture changes completely. The City buys about 90 percent of its water from the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, mostly Hetch Hetchy supply, which is chloraminated. Its 2025 Water Quality Report puts that supply at an average hardness of 60 mg/L, within a range of 8.1 to 112 mg/L. Knowing the source behind your tap helps your technician balance a fresh fill correctly at your own home.

    Covers, barriers and shortage stages

A pool cover earns its place in more ways than one. In Los Gatos, Town Code 29.10.09020(g) allows a listed pool cover able to support human weight to serve as part of the required pool enclosure if the Director of Building Services finds it adequate. Cal Water's drought stages, which apply in Los Altos, require swimming pool covers at Stage 5. California's Swimming Pool Safety Act lists a safety pool cover labeled as meeting ASTM F1346-23 among the drowning prevention features that apply when a permit is issued for a new or remodeled pool at a single family home, though a safety cover paired only with a pool alarm does not count. A worn or loose cover loses those benefits, so your technician checks its condition as part of residential service.

A team that knows the neighborhood

Puddle Pool Services teams are locally owned and operated, so the technicians at your pool also work across Saratoga, Los Gatos, Campbell, Mountain View and Los Altos. That matters in an area where the fill water can be hard creek water on one street and softer treated supply a short drive away and where each city writes its own rules on fences, setbacks and draining. Between visits, keep two habits: empty the skimmer basket when it fills and run the pump long enough each day to turn the water over. If the water clouds or the chlorine smell turns strong, call instead of waiting for the next visit. Our hours are Monday to Saturday, 7am to 7pm.

Saratoga Residential Pool Services: Frequently Asked Questions

What does Saratoga count as a swimming pool?

Saratoga's zoning code, Section 15-06.690, defines a swimming pool as a pool, pond, open tank or tub able to hold water two feet deep at any point. That definition can reach a deep pond or a large tub as well as a conventional pool. If you are buying or changing a property with one of these, check with the City which rules apply.

Where should pool filter backwash go in Saratoga?

Not into the street. The Santa Clara Valley Urban Runoff Pollution Prevention Program's guidance on draining pools and spas says never to clean a filter in the street or a storm drain. It recommends rinsing cartridge filters and backwashing sand and diatomaceous earth filters onto a dirt area, since storm drains flow to creeks and the Bay without treatment.

Which Saratoga neighborhoods do you cover?

We look after pools across Saratoga, including Saratoga Village, Saratoga Oaks, Fruitvale Avenue Corridor, The Golden Triangle, Saratoga Woods and Bellgrove Circle and Kentfield. The full list of areas is on our Saratoga page. If you do not see yours, get in touch and we will confirm.

    Is the service run locally?

Yes. Puddle Pool Services teams are locally owned and operated, so the people looking after your pool work in your area.

What does residential pool service include?

Keeping the water balanced, removing debris, cleaning filters and scrubbing away residue and stains, with care for liners, covers and equipment as part of the routine. It covers pools and hot tubs, indoors and out.
