Water Feature Maintenance in Tuscaloosa, AL
Water features make any yard look beautiful. They add charm and peace. But, they need regular care to stay this way. In Tuscaloosa, the weather can be hot and humid. This is why regular maintenance is important. Keeping your fountains running smoothly avoids problems later. Puddle Pool Services can help with this. We offer expert care for your water features. With our help, you can enjoy your outdoor fountains without worry. We handle everything from cleaning to checking water levels.
Why Tuscaloosa Needs Special Water Feature Care
Tuscaloosa's climate can affect water features. Hot summers can cause more algae growth in water fountains. Algae can make the water look green and dirty. It also can harm the fountain pumps. Regular cleaning and care keep algae away. It also stops mineral deposits from building up. Using distilled water can help too. It has fewer minerals. This is better for the fountain. The weather can also lead to evaporation. This lowers the water levels in outdoor fountains. Regular checks ensure the fountain is always full. A full fountain keeps the pump running smoothly. Puddle Pool Services knows what local fountains need. We can help keep your water features looking great.

Tuscaloosa Water Feature Maintenance: Frequently Asked Questions
Can I fill my pool during a drought in Tuscaloosa?
Under the city water conservation plan (Sec. 16-36), the mayor can limit pool filling. In Stage 3 (severe shortage) filling or topping up pools is allowed only on designated watering days and in Stage 4 (critical) filling, refilling or adding to pools is prohibited. Check the City's drought stage before a large fill.
Do Tuscaloosa pools and hot tubs need freeze protection?
Yes, occasionally. NOAA 1991 to 2020 normals at Tuscaloosa Regional Airport put the median last spring freeze on March 16 and the median first fall freeze on November 12, with about 48 nights a year at or below 32F. Hot tubs, fountains and exposed equipment lines should be protected on those freezing nights.
How does Tuscaloosa summer heat affect a pool?
NOAA 1991 to 2020 normals at Tuscaloosa Regional Airport show a July average high of 91.6F and about 85 days a year at or above 90F. NOAA's Alabama summary also notes frequent short term summer droughts. Long hot stretches raise evaporation, so tracking water loss helps separate normal evaporation from a possible leak.
Can you clean natural stone and delicate features?
Yes, with the right method. Natural stone, liners and features with LED lighting or other delicate parts each need a different approach, and a heavy handed clean can do real damage. We match the method to the materials.
Why is my fountain losing water?
Evaporation and splash account for some loss, especially outdoors. Faster loss can come from a leak, a clogged line that sends water where it should not go or a problem with the plumbing. An inspection of the circulation system is the way to find out.
Jason, Alex and Patrick went way beyond reasonable expectations to locate an intermittent leak in our pool. Always friendly polite and informative, tons of high tech equipment, really glad I hired them for this. Don't hesitate to call them for any pool issues you might have!
I have struggled for years with mustard algae in my pool… I am kicking myself for not calling Puddle Pools years ago. I can’t say enough about the customer service that I have received. Jason and his team go above and beyond at every opportunity. If you are looking for hassle, free pool service, Crystal, Clearwater, and a great overall customer service experience you found the right company.
If you are looking for a professional pool service that is knowledgeable, reliable, and amazing to deal with look no further than Jason and his team at puddle! They show up and get the job done! We have full confidence in their team! I couldn’t recommend looking at any other pool company!
As a DIYer and first time pool owner I was concerned with making the right decision for pool services. I didnt want a company that saw me and my home as just another customer or worse, just a dollar sign. From my first interaction and service with Jason and his team I knew I made the right choice. They took their time with my pool and made sure I had visibility into the state of my pool, any observed issues and what I could do to keep it running. After several weeks I noticed I was losing a large amount of water in pool and could not find the cause. When I notified Puddle about my issue and asked them to not clean until I found the issue, that wasn't good enough for them. I talked with them about what I was doing to find the leak and instead of seeing me as an opportunity to sell something they talked with me about where I should focus my search. Ultimately, I never found the leak on my own. I asked Puddle to help and they jumped right in, literally, to quickly pinpoint the issue and get it resolved. If you're in the market for pool services and are on the fence, this is the place for you.
Absolutely recommend this company. From getting my green pool to clean and now weekly cleanings they have been amazing. I get a text when they finish each week with what they have done. I couldn' be happier with the decision to use Puddle. Jason and his team are amazing and very professional
Wow. Jason and his team are the best around for all your pool needs. We have had multiple people work on the pool over the years and no one has taken care of it like Puddle. We were constantly losing water and brought it up to our old pool guys and they blew us off. We saw a sign for Puddle and they had the pool in top shape and the leak detected and fixed immediately. They are the best around and extremely affordable!

When we first switched over to Puddle, we were just hoping for better than our last pool service company, but Jason and his team have been accommodating and kind and have proven that they take pride in their work! They take their time to make sure everything gets checked, cleaned, brushed, etc and keep us updated after each service with exactly what was done. We are very happy customers!
I am so impressed with the service quality, friendliness, value, and promptness that I received from Jason and Casey at Puddle pool service. By far, they have been my best pool service experience- and I have tried several local companies.
I recently purchased a home with a pool. Closing it for the first time has been a challenge. I initially worked with a different pool company and they basically told me my pool could not be closed and I had to run the pumps during freezing weather (after charging me to close it). Casey from Puddle came out and took the time to research the challenging features in my pool and helped me to get it closed. They offered superior customer support at reasonable prices. Based on my experience this year I can definitely say not all pool companies are created equal and I would highly recommend Puddle Pools above others in the Tuscaloosa area.
Great owner, and a technician with 15 years of experience. Glad Puddle came to Birmingham and Central Alabama!
Puddle Pools did a great job servicing my hot tub. They are professional and punctual. I recommend them for your pool and hot tub maintenance! Well done fellas.
