What are the pool fence rules in London?
London's Swimming Pool Fence and Swimming Pool Regulation Bylaw requires a permit and fence for any pool deeper than 75 cm at any point with more than 1 square metre of surface area. The fence must be at least 153 cm (60 in) high with self closing, self latching gates and a latch at least 122 cm above ground. Confirm requirements with the City before building.
What does London require before installing an in ground pool?
Under the City's pool rules, an in ground pool needs a grading and drainage plan from a qualified professional along with the pool fence permit. Fence openings must not pass a 3.8 cm sphere under section 5.2 of the pool bylaw, with a limited exception up to 10 cm. Check with the City before you start.
