Mark the water level in the pool and bucket and if after a couple of days there has been a significant drop in the pool but not the bucket, you’re dealing with a leak.

Southlake's Water Quality Report for 2025 data lists total hardness of 108 to 150 ppm as calcium carbonate, which is 6 to 9 grains per gallon, with pH from 7.8 to 8.5. That is moderately hard to hard water, so calcium scale on tile and in heaters is worth watching. Regular cleaning and chemistry checks help keep it under control.
Can I drain my pool into the street in Southlake?
Southlake allows dechlorinated pool water into the storm drain, but its code prohibits pool water with more than 0.1 ppm chlorine, muriatic acid or other pool chemicals. Water with a pH above 8 or below 6 is also barred. The City advises stopping chlorine several days ahead, testing, draining slowly and never onto a neighbor's property or during rain.
