Can I drain my pool into the storm drain in Chilliwack?
No. Under Chilliwack's Storm Sewer System Connection and Regulation Bylaw No. 2231, pool water must not go to storm drains or waterways; the City names salt, chlorine, bromine and algaecides as the reason. You may drain onto your own lawn if the water stays on the property until it evaporates or soaks in. You may also pump it into plumbing connected to the City sanitary sewer but never into a private septic system. Confirm with the City before draining.
