    Mississauga Pool Leak Detection

4.8 from 28 Google reviews in Mississauga

Puddle Pool Services finds and repairs pool leaks in Mississauga, including Erin Mills and Streetsville. Peel Region notes an uncovered pool can lose 30 to 50 percent of its water to evaporation, so pressure and dye testing confirm whether the loss is a real leak.

How Leak Detection Works in Mississauga

There is no such thing as a good leak but they are particularly bad in swimming pools. Having a swim space in your backyard is great but it can also be dangerous. On average, pools hold hundreds of gallons of water at any given time so even a pinhole leak means severe water loss — and that water needs somewhere to go! Avoid drowned lawns and flooded basements by calling a local Puddle Pro at the first sign of water loss. Mississauga pool leak detection services identify leaks, isolate affected areas and provide insight into repairs.

How to Spot a Leak in Your Pool

Part of what makes swimming pool leak detection and repair so difficult is that it is tough to recognize a leak in the first place. Whether you use your pool on a daily basis or once in a while, there will always be natural water loss that occurs. High heats and high traffic will cause pool water to evaporate or be carried out on bodies and with the occasional cannonball. A professional pool leak detection service in Mississauga can help to identify whether you are dealing with a leak or if it is just a question of natural water loss.

The main signs of a leak in pools are a reduced water level and a higher water bill. It is common to lose 3-5 inches of water over the course of a week when your swim space is in high use but if you are noticing more than this, it is time to consult an expert. In order to deal with a leak, it is important to know what type of water loss you are dealing with and being able to isolate the affected area. If you find yourself having to add water to your pool, spa or hot tub on a daily basis or are seeing an increase in utility bills, don’t hesitate to call Puddle.

Pressure Testing: A pressure test is the ideal approach to tracking down plumbing leaks. When dealing with an above ground pool, components and equipment are visible and can be inspected easily. With an inground pool the majority of plumbing is underground and out of site. A pressure test involves applying a steady stream of air to plumbing and return lines. When air is met with a crack, opening or leak it will create bubbles. These bubbles can be followed visually or, in the case of an underground leak, saturated soil will create gurgling sounds. These sounds can be followed using listening equipment.

Dye Testing: If you suspect that you are dealing with a structural leak, a dye test can help you track down cracks, tears or breakage that is allowing water to escape. This can be in the form of physical damage like a slab leak or a torn pool liner. Something as simple as a sharp piece of debris can tear vinyl liners and even a small tear allows water to escape. A dye test involves turning off the pool pump and letting water settle. Once still, coloured dyes are strategically placed inside pool water. Because dyes are heavier than water they will be attracted to the vacuum that is created by a leak. Technicians are then able to track the colours to the impacted area.

In addition to expert pool detection services, Puddle crews provide a roster of reputable industry professionals throughout the Mississauga area and that means having an inside track to pool leak repair.

Mississauga Leak Detection: Frequently Asked Questions

Can I drain my pool into the street in Mississauga?

Only under the conditions in Mississauga's Storm Sewer Use By-law 0046-2022. Chlorinated pool water must sit at least 7 days after the last chemical treatment, meet the by-law's chlorine, copper and pH limits and be released slowly to the curb in front of your own property, not within 24 hours of a storm. Salt water pools and spas must go to an indoor sanitary drain instead, so confirm with the City of Mississauga before draining.

How much water can a Mississauga pool lose to evaporation?

Peel Region says an uncovered pool can lose 30 to 50 percent of its water to evaporation and recommends using a cover. It also notes that water loss you cannot explain may point to a leak. If the level keeps dropping with a cover in place, leak detection can find where the water is going.

Which Mississauga neighborhoods do you cover?

We look after pools across Mississauga, including Clarkson, Lorne Park, Mississauga Valley, Square One District, Brampton (South/Main St) and Conservation Park Area. The full list of areas is on our Mississauga page. If you do not see yours, get in touch and we will confirm.

Is leak detection invasive? Will you need to dig up my yard?

Detection itself is non invasive. Pressure and dye testing are done from the pool and the equipment, without digging. Excavation only comes into the conversation if a leak is confirmed in an underground line, and then the testing tells us where to open up rather than searching blindly.

What happens if you find a leak?

We show you where it is and explain the repair options. Many leaks at fittings, skimmers, lights or small cracks can be repaired directly. Larger structural or underground plumbing repairs are quoted separately so you can decide with the full picture.

So we looked heavily for a new company and found Puddle Pool services. They did everything they said they would in their services. The detailed list and cost was extremely helpful. Nims was/is very responsive and helpful with any questions, his crew did an exceptional job. They followed up two days later as stated in the service to vacuum and balance the water, and came on a day I genuinely weren't expecting them to due to the weather. Thoroughly impressed. Thank you

They measured, build and install a beautiful pool cover for my large L shape pool based on my special requests, very fast and reasonable price. Since then they have been very responsive to other requests and even questions. Amazing team! I highly recommend them.

I am so grateful for Nims and his technicians! All his technicians are certified. Bhav was our technician and he has identified and fixed issues that had cost me thousands of dollars to repair but would only last temporarily because they didn’t get to the root cause. The team take pride in their work and won’t find things to bill you needlessly. In fact, their fees are exceptional for the stellar service they provide! I had almost given up on a good pool company until I came across Puddle Pool Services. I have had a pool for over 10 years and I have very high standards for the “health”of my pool. Most services hire teenagers who are less experienced and don’t come back the next season. Nims team are top rate.

We had a great experience with Puddle Pools. Nims installed a new pool heater and pump, fixed several leaks, and serviced our sand cartridge filter. He was professional, efficient, and great to work with. Nims remains easy to reach for any questions that come up and always has a solution or can connect us with someone who does. Everything is running smoothly — 20/10 recommend!

    Travis Johnston ★★★★★
